2024 Progress towards gender equality and diversity
In 2022, the College of Science and Medicine put in place a set of Equitable Hiring Practices for a Diverse Workforce guidelines. These guidelines include a yearly reporting mechanism with two components.
Quantitative information about gender diversity
Quantitative and qualitative information on the work done by each School (and the CoS Services group) to develop a more diverse workforce (not just in terms of gender), in line with their School level action plans.
Compared to our 2023 reports, we have seen an acceleration of our progress towards our goal of reaching 40-60% of staff identifying as women in each staffing category by 2030. In particular, percentages of women identifying academic staff has increased (for the College as a whole) from 38.1% to 41.6% at levels A,B,C, and from 23.7 to 26.7% at levels D,E (on track for 2030 parity if acceleration is sustained).
