Are you looking to inspire the next generation of scientists? The Australian National University (ANU) and the University of Canberra (UC) have collaborated to create degree offerings for ANU science, health and medicine students which offer you a direct pathway to becoming a secondary teacher.

By combining a Bachelor degree from ANU with a Master of Secondary Teaching from UC, you will graduate with both an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in only 5 years. You will build on what you’ve learned in your Bachelor degree by undertaking Master of Secondary Teaching courses in your final years, giving you practical teaching experience.

The joint degree is offered for the following programs:

• Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences
• Bachelor of Science
• Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honours)

Program duration

The full program can be completed within 5 years. The exception is to students enrolled in Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honours), the additional Honours year extends the program to six years.

ANU graduates are among the most employable in the country (Times Higher Education Global University Employability Ranking 2019), and a combined Bachelor degree/Master of Secondary Teaching will give you an extra advantage over teaching candidates with a Diploma of Education.

Admission requirements to the bachelor programs at ANU are published on the Programs and Courses website.

After 3 years of full-time study, students will apply separately to UC through UAC and are required to meet the UC entry requirements for that program.
