Join us in Perth on Thursday 14 March, for a fascinating conversation on planetary science with ANU alumni Dr Penny King (BSc '93).
Hear about the inner workings of the Mars Science Laboratory and its iconic Curiosity rover, and discover what it's like to work with lunar samples from the historic Apollo space missions.
Moderated by Kath McGuckin (BSc '94, BEc '97), Regional Manager of Project Portfolio Management, and expert in open cut and underground mining, project development and delivery. This in-conversation event will be followed by a Q&A session and networking.
Dr Penny King (BSc '93) is a Professor at the Research School of Earth Sciences, and the Associate Dean (Research) at the ANU College of Science and Medicine. Her research group examines surfance and interior processes on planetary bodies, investigating how volatile species - carbon-oxygen-hydrogen-sulfur compounds that prefer to be in a gas phase - are distributed on planets.
This research is crucial to understanding how life originates, how planetary atmospheres develop, how ore deposits form, and how climate is regulated, making huge strides in planetary science.
