Celebrate National Science Week, 'Innovation: Powering Future Industries', with a day at the Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF)!
In a day jam-packed with inquiry and all-inclusive fun, this is a chance to get to know the facility and its users inside out. Featured activities include tours of HIAF and the Implanter Laboratories, and scientific demonstrations on natural radioactivity, liquid nitrogen ice cream, a Van de Graff generator and vacuum systems, and more!
HIAF celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The facility is part of the national infrastructure and serves the nation and beyond. The facility at the ANU is Australia's most powerful ion accelerator and one of the three most powerful of its type in the world.
