International Photonics Masterclass
This two-week Masterclass during the January term break is an intensive, project-based learning experience centred around an in-depth optical metrology experiment which encourages open inquiry. It features a focused program of theory alongside hands-on laboratory for rapid training in photonic instrumentation. The topics covered include:
- optics
- lasers
- interferometry
- digital signal acquisition
- digital signal processing
- control systems
In addition, the students will experience a collaborative team environment and train to communicate their findings with a final oral presentation.
Eligibility
- undergraduate and postgraduate students
- currently pursuing an academic program in a cognate discipline at a university or equivalent
- preference given to students from ANU partner universities
Certificate
On successful completion of the course, all participants will be issued with an ANU Certificate of Participation.
Course costs
The total course cost will be announced when the next summer program is scheduled. The cost will be inclusive of:
- tuition fee
- accommodation and meals
- interactive academic activities
- cultural tours to different national institutions, national parks, and more
Language of instruction
The summer program will be conducted in English. Participants are not required to undertake an English language test. However, it is strongly recommended that all participants have competent skills in writing, reading, listening and speaking in the English language.
