A new species of fish that lived in Australian freshwater lakes and rivers about 15 million years ago has been named after the researcher from The Australian National University (ANU) who played a key role in its discovery.
As Dr Dominik Koll was investigating a new method of radio-dating ancient samples, he stumbled across evidence of a major event in the Earth’s history, around ten million years ago.
The ANU continues to shine as a leader in research and education, adding more subjects ranked in the top 50 in the competitive QS World University Rankings.
