If you want to learn about geological hazards, the best classroom you can have is an active tectonic plate boundary. Perched precariously on the Pacific Ring of Fire, Japan is one of the most geologically volatile countries in the world.

That’s why it was the ideal destination for a group of ANU students to learn about the mechanics, the risks and the mitigation measures of geological hazards. In this video hear from undergraduate Jenna Hoy about her experience taking the course. Video footage provided by Denis Lissogourski.
