Canberra street artists worked with young scientists from The Australian National University (ANU) on the weekend at a unique art meets science event in Canberra.

The Co-Lab: Science Meets Street Art is a creative collaboration between Canberra street artists and science PhD students from ANU. Street artists have been paired with scientists to develop art inspired by student research and discoveries.

Canberra street artist Houl said collaborating with a scientist had been a great experience.

“It's been has been great to work with someone with enthusiasm for something in a completely different field to my own,” Houl said.

Science PhD student Jason Whitfield said sharing his work with a street artist was both challenging and rewarding.

“It allowed me to think about how I would explain my work and make my work relatable to the public,” he said.

Organiser Lee Constable came up with the collaboration as part of her Master of Science Communication Outreach program at ANU.
