Making the move to ANU from Sydney, has helped Alex Keen find his own pathway to a career in medicine.

“It is not where I expected to be, as I originally wanted to go straight on to medicine, but it is one of the best places to end up,” Alex said.

Alex came to ANU to study a Bachelor of Medical Science where he could continue to discover his interests in human-based biology and physiology. Now in his third year, Alex has just been offered a place to study medicine.

“I’ve always liked medicine and find it really interesting, understanding how the human body works and therefore being able to assist someone who needs help,” he said.

Alex who is living on campus has made the most of the college experience whilst at ANU.

“I feel I have grown and matured a lot being at college and being exposed to a lot of new ideas, people, experiences, and events. I wouldn’t be able to compare myself to who I was in year 12,” he said.

“The people you meet and what you do is definitely the best part. I met so many amazing people that I am now best friends with. It is really an amazing place to be, especially after moving out of home. And on top of that it is catered so you don’t have to worry about cooking!”
