Graduate Martin Westgate chose to study at ANU because it provided him the opportunity to work on novel and exciting research that speaks to a global audience.

Martin graduates from the Fenner School of Environment & Society after completing a PhD that focused on the effects of fire on frogs in the Booderee National Park on the South Coast of NSW.

Martin's research, which is amongst the first research of its kind in the world, discovered that frogs, although many would think they would be immune to fire because they live in or near water, are actually under threat from the long-term effects of fire.
