This exhibition explores the hidden and fascinating world of plants, taking the viewer inside the leaf and over the crop fields through the eyes of plant scientists.

Ever wondered what the invisible process that allows you to breathe and eat looks like?

Have a peek at this amazing process and the people who research it through a photo exhibition that focuses on photosynthesis, the most important but invisible biological process on Earth.

The images allow the viewer to travel from the microscopic realm inside leaves to the hot, humid sorghum fields of Queensland.

Focus on Photosynthesis is an exhibition organised by the ARC Centre of Excellence for Translational Photosynthesis, which is based at ANU. The images come from a photo competition aimed at telling the story of the Centre and sparking people’s curiosity in plant science.

The 15 images in the exhibition, taken by Centre students, researchers, professional staff and technicians, were the finalists in the photo competition. The images offer a glimpse of the intriguing world of plant research and permit the public to enter the day-to-day life of plant scientists, showing how plant research is helping to grow better crops to feed the world’s population.

The images were exhibited in August 2018 at Science in ACTion in Canberra, and at the Sydney Science Festival at Western Sydney University. The project also received a seed grant from National Science Week.It will be open to the public again in November this year at the CSIRO Discovery Gallery in Canberra.
