The Australian National University (ANU) has won 15 projects as part of the 2016 round of the Australian Government's New Colombo Plan Mobility Program.

The projects, worth $533,500, will allow 145 students to spend time at an overseas university in nine Indo-Pacific countries - Burma, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.

"This is a tremendous outcome for ANU and its students," said ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Young AO.

"The New Colombo Plan Mobility Program is another opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in other cultures as part of their studies."

Under the program, students will participate in projects for periods of up to one semester, with 11 of the projects designed for short-term study of up to six weeks.

The total money allocated to ANU from the Australian Government, for the 15 awarded projects, is more than $1.3 million.

The projects will enable students to undertake a range of short and longer-term study across a variety of ANU disciplines including Arts and Social Sciences, Asia and Pacific Studies, Engineering and Information Technology and Sciences.

The Australian Government received a total of 835 applications in the 2016 round.

Further details of the New Colombo Plan Mobility Program are available at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade New Colombo Plan website and the ANU New Colombo Plan Mobility Program webpage.

Details of specific funded projects will be progressively made available through the ANU Global Opportunities webpage.
