ANU ranked number one in life sciences

Life sciences at The Australian National University (ANU) is in excellent health according to the latest rankings from Times Higher Education.  The recent announcement places ANU as the top-ranked university in Australia for the life sciences.

Dean of the ANU College of Medicine, Biology and Environment, Professor Kiaran Kirk, said that the new rankings highlights the exciting opportunities that ANU provides for students.

“This ranking factors in the quality of both our teaching and our research, and in so doing it reinforces the view that there is no better place in Australia to study the life sciences,” Professor Kirk said.

“Students coming to ANU can study a wide range of subjects in this and related areas, including environmental science, plant sciences and agriculture, biotechnology, biomedical science, psychology and population health."

The Times Higher Education ranking takes account of universities’ teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. In the newly-released ranking ANU has climbed ahead of its previous rankings both domestically and internationally; it is now placed 28th in the world for life sciences.

The rankings are an endorsement of the University’s excellence in this field, and confirm its position at the forefront of research and teaching in this area, both nationally and internationally.
