Stars in 3D is a season of dance and technology presented by The Stellar Company featuring the Chamaeleon Collective, in collaboration with ASTRO 3D and RecoveryVR. Chamaeleon are Canberra’s first inclusive dance company, creating works at the cutting edge of science and technology. Named after the constellation and reptile, both constant and adaptable, Chamaeleon is a collective of artists living with disability who are taking the next step into professional practice. They epitomise a forward looking, inclusive Canberra.
Chameleon is co-ordinated by the Stellar Company and arises from the need for dancers living with disability to channel their energies and talents in a professional, supportive, accessible program at the leading edge of contemporary performance. Chamaeleon is grounded in quality and integrity, increasing wellbeing and reducing social isolation.
Stars in 3D challenges the status quo – world first simulations of the universe in 3D presented by people with disability. An exquisite experience of immersive beauty founded in extraordinary science and technical skills and presented by women who embody the Canberra community. As a world first (we think) each audience member will be given a set cardboard VR glasses as a unique way to access our films and the wider online VR world.
Stars in 3D is Canberra centred, with national and international reach, connections and implications. We foster inclusion and harness innovation to improve cross community quality of life. Simulations of the universe accompanied by performers of all abilities embody the power of collaboration between creatives, higher education institutions, researchers and business.
