Hosted by Dr Phil Dooley.

It sounds like the start of a bad joke doesn't it? A group of scientists walk in to a bar and shenanigans ensue. If you would like to witness said shenanigans come along to Badger and Co at 6pm Thursday the 19 January 2023. Spend the evening laughing and learning about the odd things particles do with a drink, some food and excellent company.

The Line Up

We’re immersed in neutrinos, but they’re almost undetectable, says Professor Nicole Bell (University of Melbourne). Yet these quantum shape-shifters were essential to forming the Universe.

Jacinda Ginges (University of Queensland) is going to present a cartoon guide to the precision atom: time-keeping, navigation, and the hunt for new particles.

Navneet Krishnan (ANU) is studying dark matter. His sense of humour? Surprisingly dark…

Assoc Prof Ross Young (University of Adelaide) says quarks are just like beer, and you, dear audience are just lattice sites for that beer to come to rest.

Somewhere along the line Ivan Toftul (ANU) got muddled between dark matter and dark beer… he’s talking about the physics of the guinness bubble.

Schrodinger’s cat has been in the box nearly 100 years, says Dr Phil Dooley (ANU & Phil Up On Science). It’s time to ask the cat what it thinks!
