About you

I did my BSc (Hons) and PhD at ANU, finishing in 1997 before moving to Japan to do a postdoc. But then I realized that I enjoyed working with words more than working in a lab. In 2004 I started working as a professional editor, setting up my own business in 2013. After giving many writing/editing workshops to academic staff and students I realized that lack of confidence was a huge reason that people were struggling to get published. So, I retrained as a coach and now I mainly offer mindset coaching to help academics see themselves as writers so that they can create a regular (and enjoyable!) writing practice and submit and publish with confidence.

Top tip

Write a little every day. You will get better at it, and you will make sure but steady progress on your manuscript, which is much better than a last-minute panic!
