STEM Boxes for National Science Week 2021

We are offering an exciting STEM Box full of activities prepared by ANU academics in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Health & Medicine.

Thank you for your interest in the STEM Boxes program. We are now accepting registrations. To receive a STEM Box for National Science Week, please register through the link below.

Please note: The last date to register for a STEM Box is 1st June.

The boxes will arrive to your school in early August, for you to use during National Science Week 2021, 14-21 August. To be eligible to receive a box, you need to be teaching high school, years 7-12.

Each box will include written instructions, a video of one our students or teachers performing the activity to guide you, and all the materials you need for each activity. Please note that for some activities that require materials with a limited shelf life, we request you to source your own materials, as we cannot post them. We assure you that the activities have been chosen with easily source able household items in mind.

Some of the activities included in the ANU STEM Box are:

  • Strawberry and Spinach DNA extraction
  • Bubble activities: Blowing cube-shaped bubbles and how to blow bubbles in a bubble
  • Investigating the pH of substances
  • Egg experiments
  • Homemade Co2 extinguisher
  • Ice melting race
  • Spaghetti trigonometry
  • Physics chain reaction
  • Math experiments
  • Leonardo Da Vinci Bridge
  • and many more

We will also include some resources for additional challenges and activities for your class if you are interested.
