Forget the fashions on the field on Melbourne Cup Day – check out our Fashions IN The Field. Our researchers, students and alumni parade their finest get-up for getting stuck into science.

Jack Simpson is a PhD candidate at the ANU Research School of Biology.

Dr Nicole Rodrigues has scrubbed up well for the corridor catwalk in this classic surgical ensemble. 

Dr Rodrigues is an ANU Medical School alumna and works at the Canberra Hospital.

“I love how this drawstring accentuates my waist,” - Professor David Lindenmayer.

Professor Lindenmayer is a researcher in conservation and landscape ecology at the Fenner School of Environment & Society.

Professor Cox is a researcher and lecturer at the ANU Research School of Earth Sciences.

“Fish nets are making a comeback,” says Dr Dan Starrs. 

Dr Starrs is an ANU alumnus and works for the ACT Government in Water Science, Monitoring and Modelling.

Hannah Osborn is a PhD candidate in the ANU Research School of Biology.

Dr Bram Slagmolen – more like Swagroll’n. Look who’s da boss in the ANU Research School of Physics and Engineering. 

Dr Slagmolen is a Research Fellow working on the development of technology and hardware for gravitational wave detection at ANU.

Helen King brought high-vis to High Street this year (clipboard by Officeworks – winter collection).

Helen is a researcher in the Fenner School of Environment & Society at ANU.

Looking fly, Rajesh Erigela knows how to rock the outback golden hour. 

Rajesh is a technical officer at the Warramunga Seismic and Infrasound Research Station, managed by the ANU Research School of Earth Sciences.

This summer Yogi Cross-Yasutake is all about the statement head piece. Fashionable and practical. 

Yogi is studying a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honours) at ANU.

“This season is all about accessorising,” says undergraduate student Jesse Zondervan. “My favourites are the compass from Suunto, this whistle from Primus and of course the hat from Akubra."

Jesse studied at the ANU Research School of Earth Sciences on exchange from the UK.

Dr Simon Robertson steps out of his helicopter and onto the runway in striking navy blue this season. 

Dr Robertson is a Critical Care and Emergency Medicine researcher and lecturer at the ANU Medical School.

“Rashin’ Fashion is the next wave,” says Rushi Perera of her Quicksilver rash suit. 

Rushi is a Bachelor of Science (Honours) student at ANU.

Hot or not? We think Nicole Fetchet is smoking in this season’s eyewear. 

Nicole is an alumna of the ANU Centre for the Public Awareness of Science CPAS and works at the The Shell Questacon Science Circus.
