The ANU is proud to offer a new scholarship to current school leavers: The ANU National Merit Scholarship.

Valued at $6,500 per year as a contribution towards accommodation, tuition and other education expenses for a maximum of 4 years, this scholarship is awarded to eligible students who have achieved a UAI score between 99.50 and 99.89 (no bonus points) or equivalent.

To celebrate the National Year of Astronomy in 2010, ANU is offering a scholarship worth $5000.

If you have, or expect to have, a pass degree from an Australian university, and you want to study honours in astrophysics full-time at ANU in 2010, you could be eligible.

Selection will be based on academic merit, your proposed field of study, and the availability of academic supervision.

Each year, students nominate and vote for the Lecturer they want to give the Last Lecture of the academic year on the last day of classes.

This year's lecture is by Paul Kirwan, an alumnus of the former ANU Centre for New Media Arts. Paul has worked on such films as Titanic, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and with directors including Peter Jackson, James Cameron and Australian legends George Miller and Peter Weir.

Open new opportunities with a science PhD at Australia's top research university.*

First class honours domestic applicants are guaranteed entry and a scholarship.

This offer is for places commencing in 2010 in the ANU College of Medicine, Biology and Environment or the ANU College of Physical Sciences, subject to supervisor availability and the first class honours degree being in a relevant discipline.

The scholarship will be at least at the rate of an Australian Postgraduate Award, $20,427 (2009 rate).
