How to apply

Internship applications for Semester 1, 2017 are closed.

Step one

Submit an Expression of Interest form to confirm your eligibility for the course. To be eligible you must have a Distinction average in your program and have completed a minimum of 72 units by the time of placement. Postgraduate applicants are required to have completed 24 units and have approval from the Program Convener.

Step two

When you receive confirmation of your eligibility, submit your application by sending your CV and one-page Statement of Interest and Suitability to science.internships@anu.edu.au.

For advertised internships, applications will be forwarded to the host organisation for consideration.

For self-sourced internships, we will contact the host organisation to confirm the suitability of the project. The host organisation and ANU must sign an Internship Agreement prior to commencement of the internship, which may take some time. You will not be eligible for enrolment for a self-sourced internship until you have received formal approval from the Internship Convener.

Step three

For advertised internships: You may be asked to attend an interview and will be notified that you have been successful. We will send you the Internship Schedule, Student Deed Poll, and Student Insurance Approval form for completion. Final approval is conditional on you finding an ANU supervisor.

For self-sourced internships: If your project is approved and an Internship Agreement signed between the host organisation and ANU, we will inform you and send you the Internship Schedule, Student Deed Poll, and Student Insurance Approval form for completion. Final approval is conditional on you finding an ANU supervisor.

Step four

Complete the Internship Schedule, Student Deed Poll, and Student Insurance Approval forms, scan and email to science.internships@anu.edu.au. You MUST receive signed approval from both the ANU and host organisation supervisors before you can enrol in the internship course and commence your internship.

Step five

Once all signatures and approvals have been received we will send you a permission code to enrol in the internship course. After enrolment, you may then proceed to commence the internship as outlined in the Internship Schedule. You must attend any Internship Induction courses as advised by ANU or the host organisation.
