Teaching Materials
There are several avenues for making material available to students, including:
- Reading Bricks. Staff should contact their Departmental Administrator to organise a reading brick for students. A reading brick is a hard copy resource such as a laboratory manual or collated reference material. Students can pay for reading bricks at Student and Academic Sevices in the Pauline Griffin Building.
- Library / e-Reserve. Scanned reference documents and electronic journals can be flagged for individual courses via the Library's e-Reserve system. Contact one of the ANU libraries for more information or access the library site at http://anulib.anu.edu.au/services/reserve/electronic_reserve.html .
- Recording Lectures. Lectures can be recorded using tapes but most of the main lecture theatres are connected to the semi-automated digital lecture delivery (DLD) recording system (http://staff-iguide.anu.edu.au/DigitalLectureDelivery.html. Lectures recorded via DLD are available to students at the end of the lecture and are accessible through the course WebCT site. More general audio-visual equipment for staff use is available from Audio-Visual Services at
http://information.anu.edu.au/space/ .
e-Learning; WebCT
Every course offered at ANU has a "WebCT" site - WebCT stands for Web Course Tools. This is an online management system which facilitates the delivery of online course materials and interactive activities to students via a web interface. More information and support in developing and managing a course site is described at http://staff-iguide.anu.edu.au/MyOnlineCoursesWebCT.html
. It is College of Science policy that the finalised assessment details for a course are posted on the WebCT site no later than the end of week 2 of semester. At a minimum, staff contact details should also be posted on the course site. Need help with WebCT? https://webct.anu.edu.au/login/problems.html
