Assessment
The ANU Principles for Determination of Systems of Assessment and for Consultation is given at http://info.anu.edu.au/policies/Policies/Education/Other/Principles_Determination_Systems_Assessment.asp . The policy outlines University policy on assessment including; consultation on assessment, disagreements over the assessment system, examinations and timing of assessment and feedback.
It is College policy that final assessment details are on the online WebCT site for each undergraduate course by the end of week 2 of semester.

3. Review of Results
3.1 Students who have a concern about their overall result in a course should first raise the concern with the Lecturer or the Course Coordinator. They will often re-examine a student’s work, and will inform the student of the reasons for their decision. In most cases the concern will be resolved at this stage.
3.2 If they are still dissatisfied with the result, students should discuss the problem with the Head of Department/School/Program, who in turn will discuss the matter with the Course Coordinator. Apart from determining the rationale for awarding the particular mark and grade, the Head of Department/School/Program will also determine whether established assessment procedures were carried out. At this stage the Head of Department/School/Program may appoint an additional examiner for the process of reviewing the mark and grade. The Head of Department/School/Program will inform the student of the result of the review process and the reasons for it.
3.3 Students may also seek the advice of the Dean of Students, who may, if the student wishes, take up the student’s concern with the lecturer or Course Coordinator, and/or with the Head of Department/School/Program
Examinations
Deadlines for preparing for examinations are circulated each semester from Student and Academic Services (SAS) to each Department or School Administrator.
Examination information for students is available from http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/examinations/index.php .
Examiners Meetings
Staff who teach into a course and who are responsible for some or all of the assessment for that course are expected to be available for examiners meetings and possibly participate in a moderation process used within the College.
Special Examinations
Extract (from Student and Academic Services website at http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/examinations/special )
'Special consideration' is when you request that your circumstances be taken into account when your exam is marked - you still sit the same exam at the same time and under the same exam conditions as your classmates. To apply for special consideration, submit an Application for Special Consideration to your College. Instructions for submitting the application, including required documentation, can be found on the form.
'Special examination arrangements' are when you request to have different exam conditions, but you still sit the same exam as your classmates. This might be the case if, for example, you had broken your writing arm and requested extra writing time. To apply for special examination arrangements, you will need to collect a Special Examination Arrangements form from the Examinations Office. You will need to submit the completed form, along with supporting documentation, at least 10 days before your scheduled exam.
Students who are registered with the Disability Services Unit (DSU) should instead contact the DSU to apply for special examination arrangements. Group A students (those registered with the DSU as having a permanent or long-term disability) will only need to apply for special examination arrangements for your first exam period. A record will be kept of your requirements and the Examinations Office will, for future exams, write to you to confirm your arrangements. Group B students (those registered with the DSU as having a temporary or variable disability) will need to re-apply for special arrangements through the DSU for each exam period.
'Special exams' are when you request a different exam time than your class mates because you were unable to attend the scheduled exam time, due to, for example, illness. To apply for special exams, submit an Application for Special Exams to your College within three days of when the exam is scheduled. Instructions for submitting the application, including required documentation, can be found on the form.
