Student Enrolment in Courses
Permission Codes/Prerequisites
Students seeking a permission code to enrol in a particular course should be referred to the appropriate School/Department Administrator. Generally a student should be able to enrol themselves using ISIS, as long as they do so by the dates set out in the current Student Enrolment and Administrative Procedures (SEAP) guide (http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/SEAP_guide/). If an error message appears and they have checked that they meet the prerequisites and/or co-requisites, they should contact the School/Department and request a permission code. The student should then go back to ISIS and use the code to override the error message on ISIS. The Online Student IT Guide provides more details on ISIS.
Note: Permission numbers are valid only in the first two weeks of semester - they cannot be used after this time. Addition of courses after this must be done using an Enrolment Variation Form, available from Science@ANU Reception Area (Frank Fenner Building, Bldg 42). If a student wishes to take more than 24 units in a semester, they will also need to fill out an Enrolment Variation Form and receive permission from a Sub Dean.
Roles of the Sub Deans
Sub Deans are available to provide program advice for undergraduate students. Sub Deans are also responsible for requests for status and confirmation of eligibility for graduation. The Sub Deans, Dr Sharyn Errington (Sharyn.Errington@anu.edu.au), Dr Elizabeth Ormerod (Elizabeth.Ormerod@anu.edu.au), and Dr Paula Newitt (Sub Dean, PhB Program, Paula.Newitt@anu.edu.au) are located in Science@ANU Office on Level 1 of the Frank Fenner Building (Bld 42). Students must make an appointment to speak to a Sub Dean and can do so by phoning 6125 2809.
Green Key to gain access to Lecture Theatres
Infrastructure Services issue keys that allow access to all lecture theatres. Audio visual equipment is often kept in a locked cupboard, which can only be opened with a "green key". To obtain a key speak to the Administrator in your School/Department.
Teaching Evaluation Services
Evaluation gives staff feedback on their courses and teaching. This feedback can be used in continuous improvement of teaching, as well as documenting the quality of teaching over time. The Centre for Educational Development and Academic Methods can assist in this process. More information at http://www.anu.edu.au/CEDAM/evaluation/ .
New Course or Program Proposal
New or changes to Academic Programs (degrees), Academic Plans, Majors and Specialisations need to be approved at the University level by the University Education Committee after having been approved at the College Coursework Committee. Forms and documentation requirements, dates and deadlines, and general guidance are given at http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/course&program_proposals/index.php .
