Because of the international opportunities, the amazing learning experiences, and its fantastic reputation.
Why did you choose to study a science, medicine or health degree?
Because I have always been interested in the way the world works, from the micro to the macro, and science is but one way of doing that... the most exciting way!
What is your favourite science, medicine or health class so far and why?
Either the ‘Vietnam Field School', or ‘Climate Change Science and Policy', because both the teachers were incredibly passionate and inspiring, and both courses gave me opportunities to do first hand research and learn more than I could from any text-book, go overseas, and feel empowered to make a difference in the world with my research.
What has the highlight of being at university been for you so far?
My IARU scholarship to Oxford, UK, and completing my Honours thesis/year.
What surprised you most about classes at university?
How some classes really challenged your ideals/worldviews and also how closely you get to work with your lecturers and the people researching in your field.
What do you want to do when you finish your degree?
I want to work for an organisation like the World Bank, and contribute in some way to programs such as the UN Development Program.
Describe a typical day for you at ANU.
I go to the ANU gym in the morning, I come into my Honours Office and study, I catch up with friends for morning tea/lunch in one of the cafes or with a picnic, I go back to study in the afternoons, and then I go to meetings and participate in my ANU extracurricular activities in the afternoon/evening.... I might even come back to my office in the evening if I have a lot of work to do. I obviously spend a lot of time at ANU at the moment.
