Student Profile - Taweetham Limpanuparb
PhD in Chemistry, 2009
"Ranking as the best university in Australia and having an international reputation ... There is no other place that can offer a similar experience as ANU."

What is your topic / field of interest?
Theoretical quantum chemistry - looking at how electrons interact with each other

What experience have you gained while studying at ANU?
Apart from quantum chemistry, I learnt "how to learn". I have also learnt the way that renowned scientists work and manage their time.

What have you learnt about yourself during your time here?
It is not usual for people to start a PhD at 21. Many people think that I'm an undergraduate or high school student :-)

What do you see yourself doing upon completion of the program?
Spending a few years as a post-doc. Then I will be an academic in a Thai university.

What has been the most enjoyable experience during your studies at ANU?
To do research work "from dusk to dawn" and to watch the sunrise from my desk.

Why would you recommend this program to others?
Ranking as the best university in Australia and having an international reputation is one thing, but a three-year PhD student life is also important. There is no other place that can offer a similar experience as ANU.

Benefits of being at ANU / life in Canberra?
I used to spend three to four hours in the traffic each day to go to my school in downtown Bangkok. Here in Canberra, I can ride a bike everywhere I want to go. The city is so peaceful and perfect.
