Student Profile - Rong Shang
Summer Scholar, 2009
Rong has already recommended the Summer Scholar Program to her
friends because "it is a really good university with nice people who are very professional and patient with students".
Rong's Summer Research Project involved synthesising boron-substituted unsaturated ligands in the Hill group. She has previously completed her BSc(Hons) at the University of Canterbury (New Zealand). Rong's Summer Research Project has allowed her to increase her theoretical and experimental knowledge and use different laboratory equipment, such as a glove box (pictured). Rong has enjoyed her time in Canberra so much that she has continued on as a PhD student working with Boron in the Hill group. Rong has already recommended the Summer Scholar Program to her friends because "it is a really good university with nice people who are very professional and patient with students".
Loc Thai As a Summer Scholar at ACERH in 2008-09, he
worked on deepening his understanding of the PBS
and
studied the research and development capabilities of
pharmaceutical firms. Timothy Cheong "I wanted to get a taste of what research is really like to inform my decision on whether to pursue postgraduate studies in the future." Desmond Ko Desmond's area of interest lies in the regulatory and
administrative processes within health economics. Natalia Sampaio "The summer scholarships are definitely better than staying at home and working a summer job", says Natalia who happily flew to the other side of Australia to gain this experience.
