"The course far exceeded my expectations by providing students a
remarkable opportunity to attend the UN Climate Change conference in Bali."
Having participated in climate change-related courses at the ANU, what have been some of the highlights?
The course made excellent links to cutting edge climate change science by connecting students with the IPCC's Fourth Assessment report, and the involvement of Academic and Industry guest speakers extended our understanding of policy dynamics.
The mock COP was an excellent way for us to gain a deeper understanding of the UNFCCC processes and mechanisms, and the ways in which science and politics interact in the international arena.
Have the courses met your expectations so far?
The course far exceeded my expectations by providing students a remarkable opportunity to attend the UN Climate Change conference in Bali. This afforded us unparalleled exposure to international greenhouse science and the international policy process.
If you were asked to recommend ANU climate change courses to a colleague, what would you say?
The course provides an effective avenue to understanding the large and rapidly evolving field of climate change science and policy.
What do you expect to gain from studying climate change courses at the ANU?
Climate change needs to permeate decision making from the international to individual level. As this need is recognised and accepted, individuals with both broad and in-depth understanding of the area will be in high demand. The course inspired a research interest in climate change adaptation, and the ways in which society adapts to environmental phenomena.
