Student Profile - Gail Sutton
Climate Change, 2008
"Brilliant lecturing with a phenomenal amount of relevant and exciting guest speakers."

Having participated in climate change-related courses at the ANU, what have been some of the highlights?

Brilliant lecturing with a phenomenal amount of relevant and exciting guest speakers. Study of a subject area that is truly relevant to today's global environmental crises and policies. The opportunity to engage in relevant, different (and fun!) assessment methods (such as the ANU model CoP) which engaged with other students. Amazing opportunities to become further involved in Climate Change outside the undergraduate area.

Have the courses met your expectations so far?

Yes, and exceeded them. Climate Change Science & Policy was the most dynamic, exciting and relevant course I have taken at ANU and was a refreshing change from dry, theory based courses that failed to link to current events.

If you were asked to recommend ANU climate change courses to a colleague, what would you say?

It is a brilliant opportunity to begin to understand the complex environmental, social and political issues that surround climate change, and the standard of teaching is exceptional.

What do you expect to gain from studying climate change courses at the ANU?

The opportunity and knowledge to (in the future) use my skills as an engineer and apply them to provide sustainable solutions for the environmental, developmental and resource challenges we are facing, both locally and globally.
