Fenner School hosts Council of Deans and Directors
On October 21-22, the Australian Council of Environmental Deans and
Directors met at the ANU, hosted by Professor Steve Dovers, Director
of the Fenner School of Environment and Society.
Representing 35 Australian universities and chaired by Macquarie University's Peter
Nelson, the Council works cooperatively to represent the interests of
schools and faculties across the country in the areas of environment,
sustainability and natural resource management.
The departments represented comprise over 1000 academic staff and 2000 PhD scholars
and produced some 1600 research publication last year. As well as
discussing the state of play in the field, the Council held
discussions with secretary of the Department of Environment, Water,
Heritage and the Arts, Robyn Kruk, CEO of the Australian Research
Council, Margaret Sheil, and Acting Director of the ALTC, Jacqi Elson-Green.
